Simple Apple Cake Recipe

This simple apple cake is the perfect treat for the autumn season! This recipe has been in my family for years, making its way to our dinner tables and holiday gatherings. With simple ingredients and just a good old-fashioned wooden spoon for mixing, you are sure to enjoy this treat and get compliments when it is served.

Recipe: Apple Cake

INGREDIENTS
1 ¾ cup sugar
3 eggs
2 cups flour
1 cup oil
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup finely chopped apples.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except apples, mixing together with a wooden spoon. Then stir in chopped apples. (You can also add 1/2 cup chopped pecans if desired)
  2. Spread cake mixture into a greased and floured 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes, until cake tests done in the center.

This cake is delicious when fresh and warm from the oven. But it sometimes tastes even better the next day, when the apple flavor has permeated the cake. Serve it with a dollop of whipped cream topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon for a simply delicious autumn dessert
